The “position in the window” figure carries no interval because it is a count, not a model output. It is not the same claim as a percentile: two of the ten swimmers on the full ranking sit inside an indistinguishability group with Ceccon’s neighbours, which the ranking page states and this summary does not repeat.

Development curve

The development curve for the men’s 100 m backstroke, 2009–2026 cohort, describes how swimmers of Ceccon’s age and event have historically improved — a spread, not a path. At age 25, Ceccon sits near the wide end of that band: the curve is fitted on 118 402 swimmer-seasons across the full age range, and ages 24 and over are one of the two edges where fewer swimmers contribute, so the band is wider there than in the middle of the fitted range (method: where it is weak). Ceccon’s own adjusted time is narrow for a different reason: it is built from his own 14 races in the window, not from the cohort curve’s coverage at his age. The curve does not extend forward past his most recent race — it describes the cohort’s history, and this site does not draw it as a forecast for a named swimmer (method: development curve model v2.1).
